Unicrimp Q-Fire range of fire rated cable clips is now available from LEW Electrical Distributors. Q-Fire is a range of cable fixings compliant to the latest 18th edition regulations, which includes saddle clips, P-Clips, cable banding, stainless steel cable ties and cable tie mounts.
The range is compliant to BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations which were released in mid 2018 and bought into effect on January 1st, 2019. Chapter 52, Selection and Erection of Wiring Systems, applies specifically to the methods of support for cable systems in buildings.
Regulation 521.10.202 updates the requirements to cover all cable installed in a building and not just for wiring systems along escape routes. It states that cables throughout an installation need to be adequately supported against premature collapse in the event of a fire
Section 527.1 Precautions Within a Fire-segregated Compartment, regulation 527.1.3, notes that where the compartment provides a means of evacuation in an emergency the cables also need to satisfy the requirements of the CPR in respect of their reaction to fire.
